Worship Ministry

Pastor Kevin and his wife AngelaOur worship ministry at Hillsdale Assembly of God is vibrant and active. Leading the congregation in worship is both an awesome priviledge and a great responsibility. It is worship that can reveal God's presence, soften the sinner's heart, and bring brothers and sisters in Christ together. And, most importantly, God truly is worthy of all our worship, honor, adoration, and praise.

Pastor Kevin is our worship leader and his wife Angela is the lead keyboard player. He has been a worship leader for over 7 years, the majority of that time served here at Hillsdale Assembly. He is also a song writer, so many of the songs we sing are unique to our church. Our worship is contemporary, but we also strive to meet the needs of those who appreciate traditional worship as well. Worship practice is held every Sunday morning from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.

Volunteerism is the heart of the worship ministry. Without the involvement of the congregation, the worship ministry could not be everything God has called it to be. Whether you are musical or not, there is a spot for you on this worship team. Below are the several ways you could be involved.

Special Music

Bill Miller Performing Special MusicIf you sing or play an instrument, you are a candidate for special music performance. Many people participate this way by performing during the offering. A candidate for special music should have a heart to minister and select music that will touch people spiritually. You need to audition with Pastor Kevin, commit to a rotating performance schedule, and be faithful to follow through when you are scheduled to perform.

This is a great opportunity to use your musical abilities and touch hearts. You are not required to attend Sunday morning practices for special music. However, on the morning of your performance, you should come to the sanctuary at 9:30 a.m. for a sound check.

Praise Team

Praise Team SingingIf you love to sing and are willing to make a weekly commitment to the worship team, we have a rotating four-member praise team. You must have a worshipper's heart, be able to sing, live a life that shows Christ, and attend Sunday morning practices if you wish to join this ministry. The praise team is an important, intergral part of leading Christ's body into worship.

Band & Orchestra

Band & OrchestraIf playing an instrument is your thing, our band and orchestra could use you. While we do have written music for many of our songs, we use chords a great deal with our guitarists and keyboard players. Likewise, while music is available for some songs, our strings and winds often play by ear.

If you would like to add to the worship team in this area, there is a place here for you. This requires attendance at the 9 a.m. practices as well.

Sound Team

The Sound BoothPerhaps you don't have great musical abilities, but you have a good ear for music. You are a perfect candidate for the sound team. No experience is necessary as we will train you in operation of the soundboard.

You must commit to a rotating soundperson schedule and be at practices and services on your assigned days. This is a great opportunity to be a part, learn a skill, and contribute to a positive worship experience.

Projection Team

The PowerPoint StationEven if you have no musical ability and can't tell when music is off beat or out of tune, there is still a place for you. All that's required is a willingness to learn and some comfortablility in front of a computer screen. Our Projection team operates the computer that projects lyrics onto the projector screen for the congregation.

This ministry is important, especially for newer members of the congregation, so they can have a more positive worship experience. But in truth, the visual addition to worship is a poweful benefit to all. This requires attendance to practices on your assigned days. We will train you to use the software.

Choir

The Choir MinistryThe Choir is part of our weekly worship, assisting us in leading the congregation into God's Presence. Praise Team members join the choir on their off weeks. Together, they and the choir members demonstrate what it means to worship God, adding to the sound and atmosphere of worship. If you love to worship and have a heart for this ministry, we would love your participation.

If you have any questions about the worship ministry, contact the church or e-mail Pastor Kevin.
