Prison Team
As long as there are prisons, Christians should minister to prisoners. Ministry is first and foremost preaching the gospel to win the lost and encourage the saved. It is an important task and a practical way to carry out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) to bring the Gospel to all the world. It also entails restoring those trapped in sin in accoradance with James 5:19-20. Our mission is made clear in Matthew 25:36-39:
"I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' Then the righteous will answer him, `Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' The King will reply, `I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."
Hillsdale Assembly of God's Prison Ministry is here to love prisoners in the name of Jesus Christ and to help them grow in faith. We welcome the participation of all church members who have a heart for those who are incarcerated. We seek the help of willing prison volunteers and prayer partners in bringing the faith to those who seek to find comfort and purpose while they are in prison.
The Prison Ministry has a husband and wife leadership team in JR and Mary Reniger. They are bikers who found Jesus and have a powerful testimony. They are members of the Christian Motorcycle Association and certified in prison ministry. Volunteers from the church assist in conducting services for the prisoners.
For over a decade, Hillsdale Assembly of God has worked with prisoners from the Camp Branch and Florence Crane men's prisons in Coldwater, Michigan. The church's part in the prison ministry is to provide people who volunteer their time once a month for each prison to hold worship services and present the gospel.
This ministry requires strong dedicated Christians to keep things going. Each of the workers will gladly tell you how blessed and enriched they are over this very important work! If you are interested in prison outreach, please contact the church for more information.
